#iconiclondon2012sept - day 11 Day 11 - only 1 day left of this month’s competition & only 1 day left to share your shot of London’s iconic transport. We’ve had over 1,400 images tagged which has made getting it down to just these 11 shots so far extremely difficult! So far we’ve had every form of iconic London transport except possibly the oldest - the railways. Introduced in the1830s, London not only has old railways but old and beautiful stations; soaring glass and iron cathedrals to the new world of engineering being created. While they have to keep up with the times they haven’t lost any of their splendour as captured by @alexwinn - our 11th finalist. Do check out @alexwinn’s work. #iconiclondon2012sept - day 10 Day 10 - we’re down to the last 2 days of this month’s competition so if you haven’t tagged your iconic London shot/s yet then what are you waiting for? Neither of the tube shots featured in this competition featured a train. We adored the slight sinister mood in this shot where @alfiewessex has combined a very dark edit with a subtle colour and spark of the rails about to disappear beneath the train, whilst keeping the sense of movement and depth, making it our 10th finalist. #iconiclondon2012sept - day 9 Day 9 - there’s only 3 days left of this month’s competition so if you haven’t tagged your iconic London shot/s yet then what are you waiting for? ah the Boris Bike. Love them or hate them, they’re an icon of London transport. They look like the bike version of a tank but give them half a chance (and a bit of a down hill direction) they can shift as @dutchie68 has caught brilliantly in this shot! #iconiclondon2012sept - day 8 Day 8 of this month’s competition and back underground well nearly. There are so many shots on IG of the London tube escalators and with good reason - they look amazing, but they are also essential for taking us up & down to & from the underground and we loved the grittiness of this shot, the angle of the escalator cutting through @theboygeniuz ‘s shot and the sense of motion - making it out 8th finalist. Day7 of this month’s competition and now for something completely different from @wrighty87 - our 7th finalist. It’s very easy to think of the red double decker in terms of the old route master (and there’s no denying that it’s extremely photogenic), but thousands of us Londoners depend on the buses - they’re a daily part of our modern lives and like us, always on the move. We loved this capture of a bus tearing past in front of the Shard & while it is a more abstracted image of a London bus, it is still instantly recognisable. Please check out @wrighty87’s feed. #iconiclondon2012sept - day 6 Blimey, you lot are amazing!! You’ve shared over 1,000 images for this month’s Iconic London competition. Thank you so much if you’ve contributed already but there’s still time if you haven’t. The tube, buses and taxis have all been part of London’s transport for over 100 years, but Londoners don’t like to rest on their laurels and this year we saw a new addition to our transport system - a cable car (or the Emirates Air Line if you want it’s formal title). @londonjay has captured it beautifully against the setting sun glinting off the millennium dome (or O2 if your prefer) and the Thames - making it out 6th finalist. Welcome to our @IGersLondon Iconic London 2012 Instagram challenge . Share with us your best images of iconic London with the theme of Transport The challenge will run for 12 days until midnight GMT on 23rd September 2012. We will select 12 of our favourite images and share them on this feed, and give you a shout out. Our overall favourite winning image will receive a set of 2 Boo Box 4, those beautiful bamboo shadow box frames kindly donated by @hatchcraft . Please tag your images #iconiclondon2012sept .
