Our next feature for @iLondon2012 is @princess_meleia http://iconiclondon2012.com/ #ilondon2012
@princess_meleia loves commentary style documentary images and flights of fancy, for her it is about the moment or the metaphor. As a film-maker, writer and photographer she draws her influences from Woody Allen, Bob Fosse, and Kathryn Bigelow and photographers like Pennie Smith, Anton Corbijn and Sam Jones. Her father bought the brand new Pentax Asahi Spotmatic the year she was born and handed it to her when she was six-years-old. She has seen the world through a lens ever since.
Melanie says: “I have lived my whole life as a creative person I know no other way to live except to create, constantly and repeat. I have made feature films, had books published, put on launch gigs for bands and a concept rock concert commissioning a contemporary ballet. I run a gala literary dinner, a poetry competition and an online arts and culture magazine, GlowMagazine.me. I am a single parent and photography is what I can do everyday, there is no resistance to it. Besides, behind a lens I feel articulate. I barely think about it, it’s like breathing.”
Go check out @princess_meleia and come along to the Truman Brewery in December to check out the works of 30 London-based mobile photographers.
