instagramers LONDON

Founded on 24 March 2011, Instagramers London forms part of the global Instagramers.com network of mobile photography communities using the Instagram app. We plan meetups and organise events, providing the London mobile photography community with opportunities to meet each other and take and share great photographs.

iconiclondon2012: Our next featured artist at the Iconic London 2012 exhibit is @ikebana_jen http://iconiclondon2012.com/ #ilondon2012 @ikebana_jen loves to create a sense of darkness, contrast and dense colour in her work. As an artist and art teacher she’s interested in the still life genre, architectural details, textures and, has an obsession for all things red. Jen shoots mostly using Hipstamatic and edits in Camera+, Pictureshow and Scratchcam. Jen says: “I’m inspired by the work of Rothko, Constable, Turner, Rubens, Rembrandt and the Baroque. I take great delight in the film styles of David Lynch and Peter Greenaway. On reflection, I think film and art history inform my photographs a great deal. The historic ‘grime’ of London’s buildings, streets and subways appeal to me and I try to capture something of the surface texture and pentimento or traces of previous lives and times.” Go check out @ikebana_jen and come along to the Truman Brewery in December to check out the works of 30 London-based mobile photographers.
